Poinsettia Christmas Soap
Homemade gift ideas are a great way to show you care during the holiday season. For a fun craft with a traditional twist, create your own Poinsettia Christmas Soap using oatmeal and shea butter. It looks good and leaves your skin soft!
Material:
- Clear Melt & Pour Glycerin Soap
- White Melt & Pour Glycerin Soap
- Shea Butter Melt & Pour Glycerin Soap
- Red soap coloring additive
- Green soap coloring additive
- Soap fragrance of your choice
- Small cake mold
- Cutting board and knife
- Measuring cups (microwave safe)
- Stirring spoons
- Microwave
- Clear plastic wrap
- Rubbing alcohol in a spritzer bottle
- Refrigerator (optional)
- Oatmeal ground in a food processor or coffee grinder (optional)
- Hairdryer (optional)
Instructions:
-
Cut clear soap into ice cubed-sized chunks.
-
Add approximately 6 oz of clear soap into a measuring cup. Microwave 40 seconds and then additional 10 second increments until all soap is melted. Stir with spoon.
-
Add red color additive and soap fragrance. Stir with spoon.
-
Pour red soap into the soap mold. Spritz with rubbing alcohol to remove air bubbles.
-
Allow soap to solidify for 1-2 hours.
-
Repeat steps 2 & 3 with the shea butter soap and oatmeal instead of the color additive.
-
Spritz solid red soap with rubbing alcohol, then pour shea butter/oatmeal soap mixture on top of the red soap.
-
Repeat Steps 2 & 3 with the green color additive and white soap.
-
Spritz solid shea butter/oatmeal soap with rubbing alcohol, then pour green soap over the shea butter/oatmeal soap layer.
-
Allow soap to solidify for 2 - 5 hours. Drying time is accelerated in the refrigerator.
-
After soap has solidified, remove soap from cake pan.
-
If using a metal cake pan, run a hot blowdryer over the cake pan to loosen the soap from the mold.
- Cut out each slice and wrap in clear plastic wrap.
Notes:
- The amount of soap you need depends on the cake mold/soap mold you are using. In this video, I am using a 3.5 cup cake mold.

Oh my! This is lovely!! Poinsettia is the best! Making it red and green really made it for Christmas gift giving. It is very unique and chic. Add scent to it and make more solid colors, this will turn into a perfect wedding favor, or any other occasion.

This pretty poinsettia soap is so pretty. I like the colors of it for Christmas and I like that shea butter and real oatmeal is used in one of the pour and melt soaps. I like that you can slice it however big you want to make it. I think I will also make some smaller soap using a smaller poinsettia mold. How long will this soap last with the oatmeal added? Where can I buy the mold? A great tutorial with a video too. So easy to make. Another Christmas gift.
