Holiday Shimmer Blue Poinsettia Pillow
Learn how to make a pillow case for Christmas! Make the Holiday Shimmer Blue Poinsettia Pillow by Lauri Eaton from I Love to Create. This gorgeous homemade pillow is a great way to decorate for Christmas using bold colors and holiday glitter. Materials:
- Tulip® Fashion Glitter® Shimmer Transfer Sheets in Primary and Urban
- Tulip® One-Step Dye® in Turquoise
- Tulip® Dye Zip Ties™
- Tulip® Surface Cover™
- Thin Cloth
- Washer
- Scissors
- Ironing Board
- Silk Velvet Pillow Cover
- Fine-tip Marker
Instructions:
- Wash pillow cover and leave damp. Lay out flat on work surface covered with surface cover.
- Starting at lower corner of pillow, pleat diagonally upwards towards opposite corner.
- Secure at several intervals with zip ties.
- Mix Turquoise One-Step Dye according to package instructions. Apply to pillow cover, keeping dye slightly away from zip ties. Let set for time recommended in instructions, or overnight.
- Wash pillow cover according to package instructions. Remove zip ties and allow pillow cover to dry.
- Use fine-tip marker to draw different sizes of poinsettia petals on the back of Red and Pink Shimmer Sheets. Cut out and layer over each other on pillow front until desired design is achieved.
- Draw small circles on Gold Shimmer Sheets and star shapes on the Silver Shimmer Sheets for poinsettia centers. Cut out with craft knife and lay over flower petals as shown.
- Draw leaf shapes on Green Shimmer Sheets and cut out. Place on pillow around flowers.
- With pillow cover flat on ironing board, cover Shimmer Sheet designs with pressing cloth and following package instructions, iron designs onto pillow.

How striking is this pillow? I love that you chose to use such a bold blue behind the red flower. I think the contrast makes this pillow much more stunning and interesting than the traditional red and green. I want to make a couple sets of these pillows. I want to put one in my living room on the sofa, and the other set on my bed.
