Christmas Curl Soap
Homemade Christmas gifts are a great way to show a friend or neighbor that you really care. Make Christmas Curl Soap in large batches and give them to your favorite people. Add your favorite scents to personalize your project.
Materials:
- White Melt & Pour Glycerin Soap
- Clear Melt & Pour Glycerin Soap
- Red soap coloring additive
- Soap fragrance of your choice
- Loaf mold
- Measuring cups (microwave safe)
- Wax paper
- Tape
- Wavy soap cutter
- Stirring spoons
- Microwave
- Clear plastic wrap
- Cutting board and knife
- Rubbing alcohol in a spritzer bottle
- Refrigerator (optional)
Instructions:
-
Cut wax paper to match the length of your loaf mold plus 1 inch. Cut width of freezer paper to twice the width of your loaf mold plus 1 inch.
-
Fold up sides of the freezer paper 1/2 inch on each edge.
-
Cut clear soap into ice cubed sized chunks.
-
Add approximately 5 oz of clear soap into a measuring cup. Microwave 30 seconds and then additional 10 second increments until all soap is melted. Stir with spoon.
-
Add red color additive and stir.
-
Pour red soap into the freezer paper like a soap mold. Spritz with rubbing alcohol to remove air bubbles.
-
Allow to dry until still solid and flexible. About 30 minutes.
-
Bend red soap on freezer paper into a candy cane or curl shape with out cracking the red soap.
-
Add approximately 12 oz of white soap into a measuring cup.
-
Microwave 60 seconds and then additional 30 second increments until all white soap is melted. Stir with spoon.
-
Add soap fragrance and stir.
-
Wait until the melted white soap is cool enough to dip your finger into the soap before pouring a 1/2 inch depth into the loaf pan.
-
Optional: If using a metal loaf pan, it will be easier to remove the finished product from the metal loaf pan if you line the pan with plastic wrap at this stage.
-
Pour 1/2 inch layer of white soap into the loaf pan. Spritz with rubbing alcohol.
-
Gently place red soap curl onto the white soap in the loaf pan. Spritz with rubbing alcohol.
-
Slowly pour white soap into the loaf pan until the red soap curl is half submerged. Spritz with rubbing alcohol.
-
Slowly pour remaining white soap into the loaf pan until the red soap curl is completely submerged. Spritz with rubbing alcohol.
-
Allow soap to solidify 1 to 8 hours. Putting the loaf pan in the refrigerator will speed up this process.
-
When soap is completely solidified, remove from the mold.
- Cut 1 inch thickness soap bars using the wavy soap cutter.
