How do you get the aluminum to lay flat? Is there a file or something you can use to sand the sides to make sure there are no rough edges, or does this craft turn out smooth? I think this is an adorable way to make the tree shine bright for the holidays.

I think the edges would be a little sharp. What about using a lid from a canned good. If you use a safety edge can opener, there would be no sharp edges. No sure what to do about the sharp edges on the star unless you used a wooden one instead.
